Roceta Gonzales was introduced to IncrediCare on a coincidence while already privately employed by a new IncrediCare client. Seeing her propensity for patience and caring nature, Roceta was invited to join IncrediCare after the mutual client moved out of state. She started her caregiving career long before then when her neighbor offered her a “granny nanny job for her mother when she went to her Bible study.”
Roceta started out life in the Philippines, born and raised until the age of 8. She and her family moved to the US in 1970, living in Los Angeles, California, Long Island, New York, and Virginia. On her off time, she enjoys spending time with her brother’s family. “I have two nephews and one niece, whom I adore! I also enjoy making my own greeting cards and scrapbooking.”
“I am motivated by our very special clients. I really enjoy spending time with them and hearing their unique stories,” she said when asked what motivates her towards her work. She continued, “I feel really great because I make a difference in their lives.” Roceta recommends all her clients to capture all those special stories of their lives using a program like Storyworth.
As for her future goals, Roceta said she hopes to finish obtaining her “PCA license and maybe even become a C.N.A.” She said she “really appreciates that Incredicare helps you work towards your license.” “I chose Incredicare because Incredicare chose me! I was really impressed when I met Fahima and Sue.
Roceta was chosen as Employee of the Month for demonstrating persistence in staying calm and gentle, especially when her clients with dementia struggle too. She also knows firsthand how memory loss can affect family members. “Working as a caregiver has helped me appreciate my own mom and her struggles with memory issues. I also appreciate hearing all the beautiful life stories of my clients. It makes me want to really live my life to the fullest,” said Roceta.
