IncrediCare Home Care seeks out Care Professionals who show potential through their compassion. While hands-on skills can be taught and honed, true compassion, patience, and care must come from one’s heart and life experiences.
Marissa has been chosen as the Employee of the Month for August because of her distinct ability to gently encourage and reorient anxious clients, engage in a variety of activities with extroverted clients, and stay committed to her first end-of-life hospice case.
In moments of instability and distress, Marissa has shown her ability to stay focused, calm, and unfalteringly kind. IncrediCare is grateful to such a dedicated team member. Get to know Marissa a little better below:
1) Where did you grow up? How long have you been in VA/DC/MD area?
I grew up in Northern Virginia, and this has been home for most of my life. Living here has given me the opportunity to connect with a diverse community of people, which has shaped the way I see the world and the way I care for others.
2) What made you choose this career field? Did anyone influence you to choose this field?
I’ve always had a heart for helping people, but two women in my life especially inspired me, my grandmother and my mom. Watching my grandmother age with such grace and strength showed me how important it is to have someone caring by your side. My mom, who has always been nurturing and strong, really modeled what it means to care for others unconditionally. Both influenced me to step into this field and become the type of person who makes a difference in someone’s day.
3) What brings you joy outside of work?
Outside of work, I find joy in spending time with my family and loved ones. I enjoy creating memories, whether that’s going out, celebrating milestones, or simply having quality time at home. I also love reading, listening to music, and finding little ways to invest in my personal growth and faith.
4) What motivates you to come to work every day?
Knowing that I can brighten someone’s day motivates me the most. Even the smallest act of helping with meals, sharing a laugh, or simply listening can make a huge impact on a client’s life. I wake up with the mindset that my presence matters, and that keeps me motivated to show up wholeheartedly each day.
5) What made you choose IncrediCare?
I chose IncrediCare because of the genuine care the company shows not only to clients but also to employees. From the start, I felt supported, appreciated, and valued. Incredicare stands out because it truly emphasizes compassion, respect, and professionalism in caregiving.
6) How has working as a caregiver influenced your life?
Being a caregiver has humbled me and made me more patient, understanding, and grateful. It has taught me to slow down, appreciate the little things, and realize how much we can learn from those we care for. Every client I’ve worked with has taught me something valuable about resilience, humor, or simply enjoying each day. This career has strengthened my sense of purpose.
7) What is a future goal you hope to accomplish?
One of my future goals is to further my education in nursing and eventually become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I want to continue growing in the healthcare field so I can help people not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. This role is just the beginning of a much larger journey of service and compassion.
