1) Where did you grow up? How long have you been in the VA/DC/MD area?
I was raised in Ghana, West Africa, and have been living in the DMV area for over sixteen years.
2) What made you choose this career field? Did anyone influence you to choose this field?
I chose this career because caring for others has always been a part of who I am. Growing up in Ghana, it was very common to look after older family members and support one another as a community. When my grandmother became sick, I helped take care of her, and that experience had a deep impact on me. It taught me patience, compassion, and how important it is to provide comfort and dignity to someone in need. After relocating, I decided to turn that natural passion into a professional path. I find it very fulfilling to support individuals, help them maintain their independence, and make a positive difference in their daily lives.
3) What brings you joy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I also love exploring new places and trying out different restaurants, as it gives me a chance to relax and experience new cultures and foods.
4) What motivates you to come to work every day?
What motivates me to come to work every day is the opportunity to make a positive difference in a client’s life. Knowing that my care, support, and presence can bring comfort and improve someone’s day gives me a strong sense of purpose.
5) What made you choose IncrediCare?
I chose Incredicare because of its strong reputation for providing quality care and treating both clients and caregivers with respect. I appreciate the agency’s commitment to compassion and professionalism, which really stood out to me.
6) How has working as a caregiver influenced your life?
Working as a caregiver has had a big impact on my life. It has made me more patient, compassionate, and understanding. I’ve learned to appreciate the small moments and not take anything for granted.
7) What is a future goal you hope to accomplish?
My future goal is to get into Health IT. As a caregiver, I’ve seen firsthand how important accurate information and communication are in patient care. I would like to build on my experience by working with healthcare technology to help improve the quality and coordination of care.
