ToggleFor the month of September, IncrediCare is proud to announce that Susan Petitt has been selected as the Employee of the Month.
Wearing the Care Coordinator hat for IncrediCare, Sue’s roles include vetting, recruiting, onboarding, and managing Care Pros, to maintaining a flawless schedule by placing the right fit Care Pro for each client.
Sue is a transplant to Virginia. She grew up in California until she was 20 years old. She moved to Idaho, where she raised her family for 26 years before moving to Texas. Three years ago, Sue decided to move to Virginia to be with one of her 5 grandchildren. From babysitting in her teenage years to motherhood, owning a preschool/childcare center for 16 years, and working with differently-abled adults and in a nursing home, Sue brings more than experience to her current role; she brings her heart. “I have always cared for people, even as a young girl,” she says.
Her passion for this career field started while working for an agency in Texas. “I loved meeting new people and hearing everyone’s life stories. This was when I truly learned how to be a caregiver.” I was hired as a mentor to new caregivers. I really enjoyed meeting with and getting to know all the caregivers. It was one of the best jobs to be able to help others learn and grow in this field. I am happy that I am able to continue in this area. I’m honored to be able to be able to work with the caregivers and the clients by fitting them together and making great matches.”
Outside of work, Sue’s 5 grandchildren and getting out of the house bring her an immense amount of joy. What encourages her to return every day to her work is “the challenge of finding a perfect match of caregiver to client.” She also finds knowing that she made “someone’s day better by being here” and the challenge to “do more to make things run smoother every day” good motivators. When asked why she chose IncrediCare Home Care, Sue said, “The opportunity to use my skills in a company that I know I can grow in.”
Sue feels the influence of her career of caring every day. “It has changed the way I look at my life now and how I look at my life for the future. The best part of being a caregiver is all the things that I have learned from the people I have cared for. I use the knowledge gained from my clients every day and think of them all the time. I count myself blessed by the relationships I have gained just by caring.
Sue has been chosen for her dedication to her clients and fellow caregivers. Her commitment to mentoring Care Pros to be the best versions of themselves encourages the team. Her eagerness to help every client she encounters is inspiring.
IncrediCare is immensely fortunate to have such a faithful team member. Congratulations Sue!
