Hi, I’m Audrey Waters and I am the director of operations and Dementia live trainer for Incredicare Home Healthcare.
One of the most heartbreaking realities in our line of work is seeing so many families and their loved ones living with major or minor neurocognitive disorders.
However, with experienced research and good resources, we can provide not just our Incredicare caregivers, but also families of clients living with those disorders.

ToggleAbout Dementia Live Training
Dementia Live is a virtual walkthrough experience to enhance how we approach care for those living with these disorders, participants get to experience some day-to-day moments their loved ones might be struggling with.
It is a training session to learn to tune into all of our senses to help them live their best lives. That is what Dementia Live is, an experience of knowledge and empowerment.
Our selection process of how we train our caregivers on neurocognitive disorders clients is intentional.
Though we train all of our caregivers, we like to do it methodically.
Our first round of focus goes immediately to the new hires when caregivers first come on board, no matter the level of previous experience, they’re assigned two online training courses that focus on empathy and basic dementia care.
Our second round of focus goes to those who already have the most amount of experience working with neurocognitive disorders because of their background in it. Those caregivers get trained in Dementia Live first.
The Dementia live session is used to enhance what they have experienced in prior cases, but also see it in a more in-depth way.
Our third round of focus goes to every caregiver in the form of monthly training.
While we do train in a variety of areas every month, every training session reflects on how it’s related to the type of neurocognitive disorder.
We don’t believe that training our caregivers is enough.
We share Dementia Live with the family members of all Neurocognitive disorder clients, as an opportunity for them to learn how they can truly be helpful to their loved ones as well.
We either invite them to come to our office or we run the session in their own homes if they can provide us with a space-enclosed room.
We start the session by talking about their loved one’s type of disorder, what frustrates them, and what they are looking to achieve through the session.
Then participants get to gear up and are given instructions before going through the course.
The last part of the session is about debriefing and empowerment.
The end is the most impactful part.
As each participant gets to decompress from the experience. New insights into their loved one’s mindset become more clear for them.
Conclusion
There are many home care agencies out there. Each one might be special in their own way with their own focus.
The way Incredicare shines is by taking the time to be prepared.
We understand the needs of those living with different forms of neurocognitive disorders and how to support their loved ones.
And Incredicare believes in the importance of supporting not just those living with the disorders, but their loved ones too.
We don’t believe in just sending sitters to our clients because they have memory issues. We go beyond the point of caring for the safety of our clients.
When families are looking for home care agencies who will support their loved one’s condition and put value into their lives, no matter the limitations Incredicare is the choice.
Recognizing that each disorder affects clients in different ways and that there are no blanket solutions to their home care needs is another way to set Incredicare apart.
The best part of training these experienced caregivers and non-experienced loved ones is how taken aback they are by the new insight into some of their clients and loved ones’ behaviors.
That is the moment I know Incredicare is doing the job correctly. We provide the necessary tools for the best care, and that is why it is important for families to really consider what home care companies they should go with.
