In the month of May, Incredicare caregivers trained in recognizing and reporting elder abuse. It is Incredicare policy and the state of Virginia law that all caregivers are mandatory reporters. Though caregivers are aware of their rights and responsibilities as mandatory reporters, Incredicare believes you can never know enough. The training covered statistics, tactics, and some root causes of abuse and/or neglect. Reviewing the different types of abuse and neglect, caregivers were presented with different scenarios in which they had to identify the type. Caregivers also shared their own stories and how they were able to help their senior charges overcome some situations.
