According to 2017 U.S. Census records, more than 60,000 veterans living across the 10 counties of Northern Virginia are considered vulnerable. Whether due to low income, advanced age, or disability, many of these veterans face significant challenges and may struggle to access basic necessities.
Cook for Vets is a nonprofit organization founded in honor of its President LJ Rasplar’s late father, Leonard Stanley Friedman. The organization provides freshly prepared meals and groceries to veterans and their families who need nutritional assistance. Through the dedication of volunteers who cook, package, and deliver meals, Cook for Vets fulfills an important need that is not always readily addressed by other veteran services.
